Statement on DR SA TS 3695.3, Requirements for designation of powered wheelchairs for public transport and/or road-related area use (including mobility scooters)
The Joint Australian/New Zealand Technical Committee ME-067, Assistive Technology Products for Persons with Disability, will meet today, Thursday 24 November 2016, to continue its work on the development of DR SA TS 3695.3, Requirements for designation of powered wheelchairs for public transport and/or road-related area use (including mobility scooters).
The committee will consider and commence work toward the resolution of more than 600 comments received during the public comment period for DR SA TS 3695.3. Due to the high volume of public comments the committee members will be expected to meet again in 2017 to continue work on the resolution of public comments. Standards Australia will keep stakeholders apprised of further developments.
The committee and Standards Australia are aware of the high level of public interest in the development of this Australian Technical Specification and will ensure that all stakeholder concerns are considered prior to the publication of the document. In accordance with Standards Australia’s processes this includes the undertaking of a second round of public comment and resolution if required.
The ME-067 committee members represent a wide spectrum of stakeholders from Australia and New Zealand, including representatives from government, industry associations, user representative bodies and others. The committee adheres closely to the openness and rigour of our standards development process.
